INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Dominican University women's soccer team will travel to Westerville, Ohio, to face regional host Otterbein University in an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship first-round match on Friday.
The Stars (18-2-0), who are riding an 18-match winning streak, clinched their berth to the NCAA tournament Saturday when Josseline Williams headed in a service off a free kick in the 95th minute of the NACC Tournament championship game to top Illinois Tech, 1-0. Otterbein followed a similar path to the national tournament, needing an overtime goal from Priscilla Severance to top Ohio Northern by a 1-0 score.
Hope and Bridgewater (Va.) make up the other half of the Westerville regional. Hope, which won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular-season title, was upset by Adrian, 1-0, in the MIAA tournament final. Bridgewater captured a share of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title but was upset, 1-0, in the ODAC semifinals by fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan and received an at-large berth.
