Wisconsin Lutheran Tops NACC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll

MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- Wisconsin Lutheran College received 15 of a possible 26 first-place votes and is the favorite to capture an eighth Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) women's basketball crown in the last 10 seasons according to the league's annual preseason poll released Friday.

The NACC preseason poll is voted on by the NACC's head coaches and athletics communications professionals.

Wisconsin Lutheran (27-2, 19-1 NACC), which advanced to the second round of last year's NCAA Championship, topped the preseason poll with 312 points. Benedictine University, coming off a 21-4 season, picked up nine first-place votes and is second with 299 points. Concordia University Wisconsin snagged the remaining first-place tally and is third with 278 points, while Lakeland University (fourth, 238), Dominican University (fifth, 210), and Edgewood College (sixth, 205) round out the top six.

Aurora University (192), Concordia University Chicago (147), Milwaukee School of Engineering (137), Marian University (87), Alverno College (83), Rockford University (57) and Illinois Institute of Technology (30) round out the poll.

New Coaches: There will be new faces on the sidelines at two NACC programs in 2019-20. Taylor Stinson, who spent the last four seasons as a men's assistant at Rockford, takes over the Regents' women's program, while former Lake Forest College assistant Hannah Trees is now at the helm at MSOE.

2019-20 Schedule: The regular-season schedule kicks off with seven games on Friday, November 8. Rockford hosts Eureka, MSOE entertains Lake Forest and Lakeland hosts St. Norbert, while Marian is at UW-River Falls, Edgewood travels to Crown (Minn.) and Benedictine is on the road at Augustana (Ill.). Additionally, Alverno remains in the Cream City to face Blackburn in a tournament hosted by Mount Mary.

The conference schedule kicks off Tuesday, Nov. 12 with one game - Concordia Chicago at Rockford - and concludes with five games on Saturday, Feb. 22.

NACC Tournament: The top six teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the NACC Women's Basketball Tournament, which opens with a pair of first-round games on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Semifinals are slated for Friday, February 28, and the final for Sunday, March 1. The NACC Tournament champion will receive the league's automatic berth in the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
