MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Concordia University Chicago's Zahra Sammour (Berwyn, Ill.) and Tyrique Thomas (Chicago, Ill.) have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Indoor Track and Field Student-Athletes of the Week for week of Jan. 6-12, 2020, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Sammour, a freshman, won the long jump and placed second in the triple jump at the University of Chicago Phoenix Invitational. Sammour's leap of 5.40 meters (17-8 3/4) in the long jump ranks first in the NACC and 12th in Division III. Her mark of 10.80 meters (35-5 1/4) in the triple jump also tops the NACC performance list and ranks 18th in Division III. Sammour also placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.80 seconds.
Thomas, a senior, placed in three events at the University of Chicago Phoenix Invitational. He won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.67 seconds, currently the top time in the NACC. Thomas added a personal-best clocking of 7.30 in the 60-meter dash, ranking eighth in the NACC, and placed seventh in the 200 with a time of 23.91.
