Preseason Football Poll Picks Lakeland For NACC Title

Lakeland University has been picked to win the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference football championship according to the preseason poll, voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Muskies captured a share of their third straight NACC title last year with a 5-1 record in league play (7-4 overall) and earned a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Lakeland received eight of the 14 first-place votes and 85 points in the preseason poll.

Aurora University, who shared the title with the Muskies last season at 5-1, was second with 80 points and two top votes, while Benedictine University was third with 76 points and three first-place votes and Wisconsin Lutheran College was fourth with 60 and the final top nod.

Concordia University Wisconsin (44), Concordia University Chicago (32) and Rockford University (15) rounded out the final three spots in the poll.

The NACC's regular season champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
