MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College Director of Athletics Jessica Ott has announced the hiring of Will East as head coach of the Inferno's tennis program.

"We are excited that Will has joined our Alverno family," said Ott. "I fully expect that with the positive momentum building here at Alverno, he will bring even greater prominence to the Inferno tennis program."

Becoming just the second head coach in program history, East joins the Inferno staff after also recently accepting a position as a tennis professional at Elite Sports Club in Mequon. He served as a tennis professional intern for the six months prior at Elite, and as an assistant tennis professional at the River Club of Mequon the preceding summer.

East, a native of Sheffield, England, began his career as an assistant tennis professional at Eccleshall Tennis Club in his home town for three years.

"I am really looking forward to starting with my team," said East. "It's going to be a great year. I love my profession, and I feel Alverno is a great place to continue that adventure."

He received his bachelor's degree in sport management from Cardinal Stritch University where he was a member of the Wolves men's tennis squad that advanced to the second round of the NAIA Championship Tournament both his junior and senior seasons.

East replaces Erin Felber, who served for eight seasons as Alverno's head coach, the first of the tennis program.

The Inferno finished 12-13 (7-2 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) last season, made a third consecutive trip to the NACC Women's Tennis Tournament and attained at least 10 wins the last three years.
