Dominican University's Gabby Curran and Sydney Kuderna have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Position Player and Pitching Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for events of March 6-12, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Curran (Elmhurst, Illinois) hit safely in nine of the Stars' ten games last week, including three three-hit efforts, to post a .552 batting average and .667 on-base percentage. The sophomore collected four extra-base hits including two home runs to post an .897 slugging percentage out of the Stars' leadoff spot in the order. Curran walked nine times while striking out just once and was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts.
Kuderna (Naperville, Ill.) went 8-0 with a 1.07 earned run average in eight appearances. Three times during the week, the sophomore picked up the wins in both games of the Stars' doubleheaders. The left-hander had a strikeout-walk ratio better than 2-1 with 26 strikeouts to ten walks. Opposing hitters posted just a .171 batting average against her.
