Benedictine University's Matt Fleming and Aurora University's Lisa Rodriguez have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of April 3-9, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Fleming (Chicago, Illinois) posted the top mark in the nation in the long jump at the Benedictine NCAA Challenge, as he won the event with a mark of 7.61 meters. His leap of 14.37 meters in the triple jump sits in the top-15 nationally, and the freshman was also part of the 4x100 meter relay (41.42) has the third best time in the country. Fleming also scored in the 100-meter dash (10.68), running to fifth as the Eagles won the meet.
Rodriguez (Sugar Grove, Ill.) won both individual events she ran in, the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Her 24.96 in the 200 is the seventh best time in Division III while her 12.17 in the 100 is 16th. Both are personal bests for Rodriguez as a Spartan.
