For the fifth time this season a trio of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) men's volleyball programs find themselves ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Men's Top 15. Benedictine University holds steady at No. 5, while Milwaukee School of Engineering sits 12th and Dominican University is 15th in this week's poll released Tuesday, March 12, 2019.
The Eagles (15-2), with 266 points, posted NACC wins over Illinois Tech and Lakeland last week to improve to 8-1 in league play. Two more conference matches await Benedictine this week as the Eagles travel to Concordia Chicago Wednesday evening before hosting Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders (13-6), who received 104 points, grabbed three victories last week. MSOE swept Marian on March 6 and Augustana (Ill.) on March 8 before posting a four-set win over then-No. 10 Dominican on March 9. The sweep kept the Raiders just one game back of Benedictine in the league standings at 7-2 as both schools moved into the back half of the league slate.
Dominican (9-8), which is mired in a seven-match skid, remained just inside the top 15 with 39 points. After going winless in three matches in California to open the week, the Stars closed out the week with a four-set loss at then-No. 14 MSOE on March 9. Dominican has another four matches on tap for this week - a home match Wednesday against Aurora and road matches at Concordia Wisconsin Friday and a triangular with Southern Virginia at Lakeland on Saturday.
Carthage (15-1) remained atop the poll, totaling 343 points behind 19 of 24 first-place votes. Springfield (18-2) and Kean (17-3) remained No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
