After suffering losses during the week, Benedictine University has fallen to fifth and Dominican 10th in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Volleyball Coaches Poll released Tuesday, March 3, 2019.
Milwaukee School of Engineering rejoins the rankings this week at No. 14 to give the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) three schools in the top 16.
The Eagles (13-2), who earned 267 points, split a pair of road five-setters last week, defeating Aurora Wednesday before falling to MSOE Saturday afternoon. Benedictine will host NACC newcomer Illinois Tech Wednesday night before traveling to Lakeland for another NACC match on Saturday.
The Stars (9-6), with 145 points, have hit a bit of a rough patch. Dominican has dropped five straight matches dating back to Feb. 21 loss at Benedictine and completes a three-match West Coast swing with a match at Division I MPSF program Concordia Irvine Wednesday before returning to the Midwest for a Saturday match at MSOE.
The Raiders (10-6), with 35 points, went 2-1 last week with a five-set loss at NAIA Cardinal Stritch Thursday night before toppling Concordia Chicago (3-1) and then-No. 3 Benedictine (3-2) over the next two evenings. MSOE travels to Marian Wednesday night and will host Augustana (Friday) and Dominican (Saturday) this weekend.
Carthage (14-1) jumped from fourth to first in the poll with a 3-0 week that included the sweep of Dominican. The Red Men totaled 338 points and 17 of 24 first-place votes. Former No. 1 Springfield (16-2) suffered dropped to No. 2 after a loss to Rivier but still pulled down 323 points and five first-place votes. Kean (16-3), up two spots to No. 3, received the final two first-place votes.
