AURORA, Ill. -- Lance Gorman has been picked to lead the Aurora University men's tennis program, the Spartan athletic department announced today.
"We are excited to announce Lance Gorman as our new men's tennis coach," said AU Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Wellbeing / Senior Woman Administrator Nicole Pieart. "We are confident that with his experience as a student-athlete at the University of Illinois along with his extensive knowledge of the game, he is the right person to lead our program. We welcome Lance to the Spartan family and are looking forward to the spring season."
Gorman has a vast amount of experience as a tennis professional throughout the Fox Valley region. He is currently the pro at Eola Tennis Academy, White eagle Homeowners Club and Norris Rec Center in St. Charles. He played collegiately at the University of Illinois and after graduating with a bachelors degree in psychology he spent three years as a professional, reaching a ranking of 941 in 1998.
The Spartans open the 2018 season on Saturday, February 3 when they travel to Galesburg, Illinois. AU will take on Knox College and Simpson College at the Lakeside Recreation Center. AU finished the 2017 season with an 8-7 overall record and finished fourth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with a 5-3 record.
