MILWAUKEE -- Junior Jimmy Carrington of the MSOE baseball team has been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the group announced Wednesday.
Carrington is the first Academic All-American in program history as he was named to the third team. He has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors the last two seasons.
Carrington was named to the ABCA All-Region Third Team and repeated on the All-NACC First Team this season by having another tremendous season at the plate. He batted .327 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs. He scored 37 runs and shared the team lead with 14 doubles. The only player to play in all 42 games, he posted a .403 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .532.
In the classroom, Carrington boasts a 3.97 GPA as a biomedical engineering major.
Carrington is the fourth Academic All-American for MSOE Athletics during the 2016-17 school year, following Holly Denfeld (Women's Basketball, First Team); Braden Andryk (Men's Soccer, First Team); and Caitlin Liddiard (Women's Soccer, Second Team).
