Cougars To Open NCAA Regional Versus Macalester

Saturday, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference crowned Concordia University Chicago as the baseball tournament champion which secured the Cougars an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament. Monday, CUC learned its first-round matchup in the 56-team field.

Champions of the NACC Tournament for the fifth consecutive year, the second-seeded Cougars (29-11), will face seventh-seeded Macalester College (26-15) from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the Whitewater, Wis. regional this Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

The winner will advance to take on the winner of No. 3 seed Adrian College (33-11) and No. 6 seed University of St. Thomas (26-16) Friday at 7:45 p.m., while the loser will face the Bulldogs versus Tommies loser at 1:15 p.m.

The other four teams in the eight-team regional are host and top-seed UW-Whitewater (35-7), No. 4 seed College of St. Scholastica (32-8), No. 5 seed UW-La Crosse (28-17), and No. 8 seed St. Norbert College (30-11).

The regional will use a double-elimination format.
