NACC Seeks Applicants for Men's Basketball Coordinator of Officials Position

DUTIES.  The precise services of the Coordinator may be extended or curtailed by the NACC from time to time.  The duties of the Coordinator include the following:

a.   The Coordinator of Officials shall serve as an independent contractor and report directly to the NACC Commissioner.
b.   Provide a list of qualified game officials for the succeeding season at least four weeks prior to the beginning of said season.
c.   Submit overall evaluations of all officials used during the last season at the end of the season, for purposes of evaluation.
d.   Assign and provide for all officials for NACC games and non-Conference home games.
e.   Assign by Arbiter.
f.    When invited, attend meetings of the NACC.
g.   Conduct a preseason meeting or teleconference for all officials and coaches regarding rules and overall evaluation processes.
h.   Secure a game report from all officials when necessary.
i.    Provide an independent evaluation of officials beyond the coaches' evaluations.
j.    Submit to an annual evaluation by the Commissioner.
k.   Provide and secure evaluations of officials by the coaches.
l.    Contact all officials regarding their assignments.  This includes substitutes and replacements.
m.  Attend and/or monitor online various games throughout the season for purposes of evaluation and education of officials.
n.   Communicate frequency of coaches' evaluations with the NACC Commissioner on a regular basis.
o.   Recommend officials to the NCAA when requested.
p.   Recruit new officials.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of ten years of successful basketball officiating experience at the collegiate level is required. Previous assigning experience is not a prerequisite, but will be considered. The successful candidate shall possess communication (particularly listening), organizational, and interpersonal skills, and be respected by both coaches and peers.  Accuracy and attention to detail is critical. Must be proficient in computer software programs including Arbiter for assigning and evaluation purposes. The ability to professionally communicate with a wide range of constituents - coaches, Directors of Athletics, officials, fellow coordinators, etc. - is essential.

The NACC seeks candidates who are knowledgeable of the NACC and NCAA Division III athletics, and have a commitment to upholding the philosophy of NCAA Division III. Valid driver's license is required. The conference will conduct reference and background checks on final candidates.
