WAUKESHA, Wis. (July 14, 2018) --- Benedictine University, a charter member of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), has been accepted into the membership process for NCAA Division II and will depart the NACC after the 2018-2019 academic year, the university announced Friday.

"We look forward to working with Benedictine during this final year of their NACC and NCAA Division III membership," remarked NACC Commissioner Dr. G. Steven Larson. "They have been a dedicated partner and strong member of the NACC from our inception in 2006 to the present. We wish them the best as they move into a new phase for their institution and intercollegiate athletics programs."

Benedictine will remain a member of the NACC for the 2018-2019 academic year and be eligible for regular-season NACC championships. Per NCAA policy, the Eagles are not permitted to participate in NCAA Division III Championships this year as a condition of their reclassification. Thus, Benedictine will not be eligible to participate in any conference tournament in which automatic qualification to an NCAA Championship is attached.

"Benedictine Univeristy has been an important part of the NACC since the conference was founded," said Dr. Scott Flanagan, Edgewood College President and the 2018-19 President of the NACC's Executive Council. "Our members wish the University, their coaches, and student-athletes continued success during the transition to NCAA Division II. The NACC remains well positioned to extend the reputation for scholarship, inclusion, sportsmanship, and competition it has earned over the past decade."
